In late 2022, Governor Youngkin released his proposed budget amendments for the 2022-2024 biennium. The budget included an allocation of $10 million to cover one-time costs聽associated with the integration of聽Eastern Virginia Medical School聽(EVMS) into聽色吧(色吧), as well as a new targeted timeline for integration of no later than July 1, 2024.
Given this聽deadline,聽色吧 and EVMS are anticipating full integration by January 1, 2024. As Hampton Roads faces urgent health and economic disparities that must be addressed without delay, we have the聽need,聽vision, and聽will to make it happen.听Integrating EVMS聽into 色吧聽will be a major step toward achieving this goal. Moreover, it will enhance聽health聽care, strengthen educational programs, and bolster the workforce pipeline.
As聽the legislative聽session continues, it is聽very encouraging to聽see the strong support this important initiative is receiving聽among state leaders!
