From the thousands that roll by Hampton Blvd. every day, to the guaranteed championships our athletes will bring to the field, to the millions of students that earned their degrees here at this nationally recognized University. They are what intrinsically motivates me and my department to keep this campus looking Exceptional, year-round. My mother and father are alums, I am employed here, and my little sister works here. I have an 18-year-old daughter looking to campus crawl soon. I just enrolled my son in Pre-Kindergarten. I hope my time here pays off for all of them and this university.

What advice would you offer to other employees at É«°É?Ìý"Be the difference between passion and profession." A professional will say, "I only have to be here 8 hours...". Whereas a passionate person would say, " I only have 8 hours to be here." If you do what you love for a living, you will never work a day in your life, and it will show in the fruit of your spirit. Do not look at the clock and do not let a pay band dictate your level of participation in a workday. This is your signature, the public might not know you're cutting corners, but you will." Lastly, "I'll never ask you to do something that I already have not done 1000 times over, if you were not out here helping me, I would be out here doing it myself."

What is your current title?ÌýLandscape Trades Tech 1

How many years of service at É«°É and in Division of Administration and Finance?Ìý8 years in October

How would you summarize your job in one sentence? Horticulturist by nature, Landscaper by Trade, but always God’s first chosen profession for man, Gardener.

What is your favorite thing about working at É«°É?ÌýÉ«°É’s Landscape is my exhibition! It is essentially the wrapper on the present that is higher education.

What is one thing on your bucket list?ÌýBuy a camper, sell the house, and not leave a forwarding address.

What do you do for fun?ÌýI like to travel toÌýCorolla/Corova North Carolina. It’s never too far away. My sister and brother-in-law live on the James River in Buckingham County Va., that is also a little closer to heaven.

What would you describe as the most important personal attributes or strengths that you bring to your job?Ìý"Field Tested and Fit for Duty." An unapologetic commitment to excellence, dedicated to leaving it looking better than how I found it. It is an ethic that rubs some the wrong way, but the result is never disappointing.
